Audi has built the A4 since 1994. Autoknowtive’s catalog has 17 of them, from the 1999 Audi A4 to the 2020 Audi A4 Avant. Body styles here: Wagon and Convertible. Sold new in North America, Europe and Asia.
Power went from 150 hp in the 1999 A4 to 231 hp in the 2020 A4 Avant. It got heavier along the way: 1,465 kg for the 1999 car, 1,805 kg for the 2020. The most powerful here is the 2016 Audi A4 Avant at 272 hp (203 kW), more than 58% of the cars in the catalog. Quickest from 0 to 62 mph: the 2016 Audi A4 Avant, in 5.4 s.
The Audi A4 was the first model in the Volkswagen Group to feature the new 1.8 L 20V motor with five valves per cylinder, based on the unit Audi Sport had developed for their Supertouring race car.

The Audi A4 is a line of luxury compact executive cars produced from 1994 to 2025 by the German car manufacturer Audi, a subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group. The A4 has been built in five generations and is based on the Volkswagen Group B platform. The first generation A4 succeeded the Audi 80. The automaker's internal numbering treats the A4 as a continuation of the Audi 80 lineage, with the initial A4 designated as the B5-series, followed by the B6, B7, B8, and the B9.
