Privacy policy
Last updated 14 October 2026
Autoknowtive is a free car-guessing game. There are no accounts, and you never need to give us your name or email to play. This page explains what the site and the iPhone app store and which third-party services they use.
Stored in your browser
- Your settings, streaks, scores, Garage collection and tutorial progress, kept in local storage and cookies on your device.
- A random player id (for example
3f2a…) created the first time you play the Daily. It is not linked to who you are.
Clearing this site's data in your browser removes all of it. Settings → Reset progress clears your stats and collection.
Stored on our servers
To check Daily answers without sending the answer to your browser, our server (Google Firebase / Cloud Functions in the United States) saves the guesses and clues you use for each Daily, keyed to your random player id. We use it only to run the game and to stop cheating.
Messages you send us
If you use the contact form, we store your message, the topic you chose, the email address you give (if any), the page you came from and your browser type, so we can read and answer it. Your IP address is used only in scrambled form to limit how many messages can be sent per hour. We keep messages for as long as we need to deal with them, and no longer than 12 months.
Technical data
Like any website, our hosting provider (Google Firebase) processes technical data such as your IP address and browser type to deliver pages and keep the site secure. We don't run separate analytics or tracking tools.
Advertising
The site is supported by ads from Google AdSense.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors' cookies at aboutads.info.
- Visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland are asked for consent before personalised ads are shown, and can change that choice at any time from the privacy link the consent message adds to the page.
In the iPhone app
The app works like the site: your settings, stats and Garage stay on your phone, and the Daily uses the same kind of random player id. Deleting the app removes everything stored on the phone. The app is supported by ads from Google AdMob.
- Google may use your device's advertising identifier, rough location from your IP address and information about how ads are viewed to show ads, measure them and prevent fraud.
- Apple asks whether the app may track you. If you choose Ask App Not to Track, the advertising identifier isn't shared and ads are less personalised. You can change this in the iPhone's Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Where the law requires it (the EEA, the UK, Switzerland and some US states), Google asks for your choice before ads are personalised. You can change it later in the app's Settings → Privacy choices.
- Full-screen ads only appear between games, never during a round and never in the Daily.
Car photos
Car photos and specs are gathered from public sources for identification and trivia. If you own a photo and want it credited or removed, contact us and we'll take care of it.
Children
The site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your choices and questions
You can clear everything stored in your browser at any time, and ask us to delete a message you sent. For anything about your data, send us a message.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top will change with it.
